Shed Security Tip – Handy Tips On How To Ward Off Potential Intruders

A hugely successful security event which issued advice on how to safeguard residents' sheds and gardens was held over the Easter weekend.

Barking and Dagenham Council's Community Safety Team and the Police teamed up to host the event at Homebase in Merrieland Crescent, Dagenham.

And it proved to be a popular event with more than 63 discounted shed alarms sold and 194 mobile phones marked with security pens.

The main focus of the event was to offer advice on how residents can secure their sheds, gardens and homes.

This included demonstrations of various security devices such as alarms by Crime Prevention Officers.

Community Safety staff and Police Officers were also on hand to offer handy tips on what shrubs to plant in your garden and where in a bid to ward off potential intruders.

There are still a limited number of vouchers, courtesy of Barking and Dagenham Council, which provide a discount on shed alarms available from Homebase. With the £3 voucher the shed alarms which are normally priced at £9.99 now only cost £6.99.

Executive Member for Cleaner, Greener, Safer, Cllr Milton McKenzie said: This proved to be an extremely successful event which highlighted the importance of security measures in the home and garden.

It was great to see so many local residents taking advantage of the discounted shed alarms and realising how crucial it is to take security seriously. It is only by working together that we can tackle crime.
