Loud Shed Alarm – Help Protect Your Shed From Burglars

Residents in Lydney are being invited to a special event to demonstrate how to protect their sheds from burglars.

Police in the area have become increasingly concerned about the number of burglaries in the area and so have decided to take pro-active action to try and beat the burglar.

Working with the Forest's Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, officers are inviting residents to attend a crime prevention event, and will be loaning people battery operated shed alarms that can help protect their outhouses from potential burglars.

A typical garden shed fitted with security devices will be on display to demonstrate how sheds can be protected, and crime prevention literature from Neighbourhood Watch and Gloucestershire Crimestoppers will also be available.

Local uniformed police officers, Police Community Support Officers and crime reduction officers will also be on hand to answer any specific queries.

We want to work closely with the community to reduce the incidence of these crimes and apprehend the offenders, said PC Bob Lloyd, one of the Forest's Crime Reduction Officers.

The very loud shed alarms have already proved to be an effective way of discouraging burglary to sheds and other outbuildings.

We would like to encourage as many local people to attend as possible, we would love to see people bringing along their neighbours and friends as we intend to spread the crime prevention message as far and wide as possible.
