May 14, 2005 By: David Thompson Building a Storage Shed – Prefab or Build it YourselfMany consumers would love to have a storage shed or garage in their yard, but are afraid that the cost of building one and the complexity of constructing a shed will be too much to handle. There are some good existing plans and kits for garages and sheds that will guide you in building a storage shed in your backyard. Many builders have pre-designed plans for garages and sheds that will guide you through all of the steps from sourcing your material to step by step construction of the shed.
Constructing and building storage sheds ang garages are really not that difficult if you follow the plans and ask lots of questions? Your friendly neighbourhood lumber store will have several plans to start with. Once you have settled on the size and type of storage shed, ask your lumber store clerk to assist you in ordering the material. Some will already have the material assembled as a kit and you just need to make arrangements to have it delivered to your home. A hint that many people miss is having the lumber yard place the material as close as you can to the location were you will be constructing the shed or garage.
Once you are ready to begin, follow the instructions carefully to construct your storage shed. If you make a mistake there is no problem, although you may have to remove a few nails and screws. You will gain a lot of pleasure from constructing your own storage shed, and remember that if it gets a bit frustrating just take a break, clear your head, and come back later to finish building the garden shed or garage.
